ARTIST statement

I’ve never been fond of all those philosophical, highly obscure terms and meaningless meanings trying to reveal the artist`s `why`. There is hardly a proper way to explain the audience why I, as an artist create my art. It’s simple as that – to share, pull out, explore, find, experiment, provoke – everything that my talent is pushing me through. It’s an itch. It’s an endless battle of will, inspiration and discipline but it always ends with physical result. My emotions are visible, my fears – touchable, my senses – understandable. Desires have shape, visions have color, and fantasies have life of their own.

I’ve made a lot of experiments through the years – from academic classes with human body studies to all other kinds of art media, including 3D. I’ve studied graphic, painting, drawing, sculpture and mural painting fine arts for more than 15 years. I’ve tried it all. I still experiment with myself and I try to extend and enrich my own style, but to preserve the most basic me at the same time.

I’m Asian culture, Korean movies and anime follower. I’ve had dances and played the piano. I’m photography fan. I’m passionate sci-fi, fantasy and erotica reader and creator of fantasy world of my own. That’s why entangling text with image is one my oldest fascinations, as long with the multiple layer images. Detail is crucial to me. Also texture, composition and balance. I’ve done a lot of realistic landscapes and portraits through the years but I’ve always been fascinated by the abstract in all its forms.

I’ve always been addicted to the prima vista method. It’s not a technique; it’s more of a state of mind. I don’t do sketches or preliminary projects. It’s just the way my mind works – once the idea is out – it’s final. I cannot transfer a sketch onto a canvas or paper the same way. It’s already changed in my mind. So I leave it to be – I set the idea free and let it guide me through the whole process till it’s complete. I respect its life and will to change and evolve. Ideas are never actually our own. They come to us if we are sensible and open minded enough. All we have to do is let them flow through us and show no resistance.

Artist statement is more about the personality of the artist, and less about explaining what`s the meaning of his\her art. The art will always be about feeling and pure emotion beyond comprehension... At the end it’s just me, sharing my personal drive-trough and hoping for you to feel it too.
